Another fully automated FRICKE dosing plant has been delivered to North America
turnkey ready. Entirely oriented to individual customer requirements, FRICKE
developed, designed and constructed a modern, highly efficient plant based on
two Concordia plants, which was equipped with an integrated fully automatic conveyor system
for over 300 batch containers. A total of 1400 dosing valves, 6 scales and 20 km of pipework are integrated in the plant configuration.
Control of this complex plant takes place via the Batch Management System (BMS) developed by FRICKE.
Amongst others, the following factors were taken into account during the plant
development phase:
Fail-safety and redundancy:
The concept is based on two Concordia plants (II and IV) with an overlapping
weight range. Both plants can be individually controlled to offer optimum
redundancy.
Concordia II covers a weight range from 0.1 g to 15 kg, with a maximum container
size of 30 l. Concordia IV doses 2 g through to 50 kg into 250 l containers.
Fail-safety and production safety were additionally increased by the
integration of a 30 l reserve tank in each pipe stretch. To cope with the
expected flow quantities, 100 pipework stretches were designed in DN32, 50 are
additionally heated.
Common data and raw material basis:
Despite of the fact that both plants operate independently of each other, they
have access to the same raw materials and are connected to one another. Our BMS
monitors and logs every operating step, assumes batch control and, of course,
controls both plants.
Optimum footprint:
The plant is built over two levels. The bottom level accommodates the two dosing
plants, the upper level the tankage and buffer containers. The tankage is
designed for 700 raw materials.
Time management:
Due to all pipework connections being pre-assembled in our company, the time
required for pipework construction on site could be drastically reduced. This
was the key to us keeping the delivery date, the budgeted cost frame as well as
the hand-over schedule to production.
Paper work and acceptance:
The plants were constructed in accordance with North American specifications and
were certified by MOT (TUV) of America. Our FRICKE engineers were in charge for
the entire performance.
