German Brand Award 2022: Fricke Dosing + Filling Systems honoured for outstanding brand management

Minden-based leading technology company successful in two categories

Machine construction company Fricke, headquartered in Minden, Germany has won the prestigious brand award for the first time. Convincing the jury twice over, the company was declared “winner” in the category “Excellence Brands ‒ Industry, Machines & Engineering” as well as receiving “Special Mention” in the category “Excellence Brands ‒ Product Brand of the Year”. At a prize-giving ceremony on 9 June in Berlin, the jury, comprising members of the German Brand Institute and the German Design Council, paid tribute to Fricke for excellent brand management and successful positioning of its brands.

“These awards are an acknowledgement of our work,” commented Managing Director Bernd Fricke. “Our family-owned company with its long-standing traditions, now being run by the fifth generation, develops and produces dosing and filling systems together with suitable software solutions for numerous industries. Thanks to our employees, we have successfully built up the brand over the past 150 years and established it internationally, focusing on our brand values Quality, Functionality and Design. Our consistent brand management impresses our customers all over the world.”


The German Brand Award

The prize for successful brand management in Germany was initiated by the leading German authority on design and brands, the German Design Council. Judged by a panel of branding experts from industry and academia, it identifies, presents and honours unique brands and brand creators. The German Design Council is an independent, internationally active institution that supports companies on all matters relating to brand and design development, as well as in promoting understanding of design among the general public. The German Brand Award achieved a wide international response in 2022 with about 1,200 entries from 19 countries. A total of 65 projects and brands received a “Gold” award ‒ 27 for “Excellent Brands” and 38 for “Excellence in Brand Strategy and Creation”.



Fricke Abfülltechnik GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1870 in Rehme (North Rhine-Westphalia) and began by producing decimal scales that mainly helped dealers to weigh agricultural products correctly. The product portfolio was gradually expanded, Fricke then developing bagging scales for coal and briquettes, and soon afterwards the first dosing and filling systems, which are still used in numerous industries.

Today, the company offers fully and semi-automatic dosing and filling systems, together with the associated control software, for a variety of industries, including perfumes and aromas, coatings and paints, care und cleaning products, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, foods, chemicals, adhesives, and construction chemicals and auxiliaries. Family-owned since it was founded, Fricke is currently led by a fifth-generation Managing Director and employs a staff of about 110 in Minden – 34 of whom work in support and software development.
