During the workshop, the participants explored basic applications of artificial intelligence in the classroom and learned through hands-on activities how AI can recognize images or patterns.

At the 12th Robotics and AI Workshop organized by MWANZA e.V., 44 children and young people in Mwanza, Tanzania, gained hands-on insights into robotics, programming, and artificial intelligence. FRICKE supported the educational project with a donation.

The 12th Robotics and AI Workshop took place from March 30 to April 4, 2026, at the Gunzerthaus in Mwanza. The one-week bootcamp was organized by MWANZA e.V. in cooperation with the local partner MITzKits. The aim of the workshop was to provide young people with accessible entry points into technical topics and to inspire their interest in robotics, programming, electronics, and artificial intelligence. Under the motto “STEM in Motion,” the focus was primarily on active, hands-on learning. Participants discovered how science, technology, engineering, and mathematics interact in everyday applications, such as smartphones, robots, and automated systems.

“As a technology-driven family business, we know how important it is to inspire young people early on to engage with technology, programming, and practical problem-solving. We are therefore very pleased to have supported the Robotics and AI Workshop organized by MWANZA e.V. and to contribute to the technical education of young people,” says Bernd Fricke, Managing Partner of FRICKE Abfülltechnik GmbH & Co. KG.

During the workshop week, the children and young people built simple circuits, programmed microcontrollers, developed their own robotics projects, and explored initial AI applications. Among other things, they worked with tools such as Teachable Machine and trained simple models to recognize images or patterns. A particular highlight was the construction and programming of their own dump truck models. This allowed the participants to combine mechanical design, control technology, and wireless communication, and to test their results directly.

The workshop concluded with a Demo Day, during which the children presented their projects to parents, teachers, and invited guests. In doing so, they demonstrated not only technical understanding, but also creativity, teamwork, problem-solving skills, and self-confidence. Special thanks go to MWANZA e.V. and MITzKits for their great commitment and valuable work on site.
