Challenges: Manual filling reaches its limits as production volumes increase
In the past, products were filled manually on a scale – a time-consuming and error-prone process that increasingly reached its limits as production volumes grew. At the same time, a wide variety of container sizes had to be filled reliably and precisely. “Due to our constantly rising production quantities, in 2019 we decided to take a major step towards automation and convert our filling station to the FFS 21 from Fricke,” reports Thomas Haunsperger, Managing Director of PHI OIL.
Solutions: Precise and clean pallet filling thanks to intelligent control
The semi-automatic FFS 21 filling system from FRICKE enables filling containers directly on the pallet – precise, clean, and efficient. Production orders are transferred via barcode scanner directly from the ERP system, allowing the system to automatically set the appropriate filling parameters such as target weight, tare, coarse and fine flow, and container height. Components like the drip tray and fine hold contact also adjust automatically. This approach reliably prevents filling errors, dripping, or damage to the machine.
Implementation: Increased efficiency through ergonomic and high-performance filling solution
In daily operations, the FFS 21 impresses above all with its speed and flexibility. The roller-bearing, swiveling telescopic extension significantly accelerates valve positioning and saves valuable seconds with each filling cycle. At the same time, its user-friendly design ensures ergonomic operation: the filling process can be controlled with one hand, the control handle is height-adjustable, and operators benefit from reduced strain on the back and shoulders. “The new system not only enabled us to perfect our filling process with the corresponding formulation accuracy, but also helped us to fill large quantities of product in a shorter time, allowing us to greatly increase our overall filling quantities,” says Thomas Haunsperger.
Looking ahead together: Production optimisation through modular and compact filling systems
In addition to precision and ergonomics, the FFS 21 offers advantages for integration into existing production environments: thanks to its modular design with one, two, or three scales, the system requires only minimal floor space, making it ideal for facilities with limited room. “Since 2019, we have optimized our processes enormously by using the two filling stations from Fricke and are delighted to be able to meet steadily rising demand from our customers even more effectively,” Thomas Haunsperger concludes.
