Setting new standards in dosing

Efficient dosing systems at EFF

Fricke Abfülltechnik GmbH & Co. KG, the mechanical engineering company from Minden, Germany, and the European Flavours & Fragrances PLC Group (EFF) from United Kingdom have successfully advanced their collaboration in the field of dosing technology. The main goal of both companies was to elevate the productivity and efficiency of production processes at EFF to a new level.

EFF specializes in creating fragrances and flavours for a variety of consumer goods, such as luxury perfumes, body care products, detergents, and fabric softeners. In order to make production more precise and efficient, the company sought solutions to reduce manual dosing. The expertise of Fricke, an internationally active manufacturer of dosing and filling systems as well as control software, proved to be the ideal solution for EFF's demanding requirements. Since the commissioning of the first dosing system from Fricke in 2009, significant benefits have been achieved. "Thanks to the precise and automated dosing processes, we can ensure a consistent quality of fragrances that meet the high quality and safety requirements of our customers in the perfume and flavour industry," explains Gary Kersey, Purchasing Director at EFF.

EFF has continuously expanded its production with dosing systems from Fricke. These systems allow for precise dosing of mixtures and components in various weighing ranges and support both automated and manual dosing processes. The positive impact on EFF's production processes is evident not only in faster production times, but also in increased output and improved overall efficiency. This success underscores the effective collaboration between EFF and Fricke.

"The wide range of system types from Fricke enables the efficient production of both standard fragrances and innovative scent creations in consistently high quality. Smaller order volumes of up to 50 liters or larger batches of up to 600 liters are possible. The very good system quality and availability of spare parts, as well as Fricke's excellent customer service, guarantee a secure production process," emphasizes Gary Kersey. Fricke aims to continuously improve the process efficiency and safety of its customers. "With investments in automation and digitalization, we were able to significantly improve the efficiency and reliability of processes in the production of EFF," explains Harald von Lukowicz, Project Manager Software & IT at Fricke.

Both companies are proud of their long-standing and successful partnership. "Our latest investment, the Fricke Dosingstar, is a state-of-the-art dosing system that signifycantly shortens our production times and enables our customers to have faster lead times," reports Gary Kersey. The Dosingstar with six dosing modules allows the processing of approx.-imately 700 different raw materials and achieves an impressive 360 dosages per hour – all without interrupting the process when loading and unloading the storage tanks, thus minimizing downtime. The software-supported order processing allows for flexible prioritization as needed. Equipped with Fricke valve technology, the Dosingstar guarantees highly precise dosing at high flow rates and provides reliable protection against cross-contamination. This ensures recipe-accurate and reproducible manufacturing. Additionally, the system is designed for dosing heated and cooled products and is compliant with the EU Directive 2014/34/EU (Atex) for use in potentially explosive environments. The very low maintenance effort guarantees EFF long-term planning and production security. After installation and commissioning, the system is technically supported and fine-tuned to ensure trouble-free operation for years to come. The high degree of automation also allows for unsupervised night operation and significantly reduces personnel requirements.

Interested parties will have the opportunity to find out more about the high-performance dosing systems at Achema in Frankfurt a. M. from June 10-14, 2024 (Hall 3, Stand no. D99) or at World Perfumery Congress from June 24-27, 2024 (Stand no. 512). "We look forward to your visit and the exciting exchange on site," says Daniel Druschke, Sales Manager at Fricke Abfülltechnik GmbH & Co. KG.
