Reliable in all areas of application

Perfect flavor and fragrance creations at Lothar Streeck

From small batches in the laboratory to large units, Fricke’s dosing systems cover the full range of production processes at Lothar Streeck GmbH & Co. KG

Speed and absolute precision are the main challenges in the production of fragrances and flavors at Lothar Streeck GmbH & Co. KG. For the past 70 years, the prestigious Hamburg-based company has been producing unique flavor and fragrance creations for the domestic and international market. The company supplies customers from a wide range of industries such as detergents and cleaning, cosmetics, food and beverages or tobacco. Streeck has been using Fricke’s dosing systems in its production processes since the year 2003. Whether it’s the DFL for small- to medium-scale laboratory batches, the Duplex with two scales, or the Dosing Cluster for large components, Fricke’s different types of systems allow for the efficient and reliable automated production both of tried-and-tested formulas and of new creations that are regularly being developed.

Fragrances play an important role when it comes to consumers’ sense of well-being. Whether in a classical perfume, detergent or a customized air freshener – quality fragrance oils are inherent to a wide range of product applications. They personalize, refine and give many products that “certain something” that makes them stand out from the competition. The same is true of flavors. Whether in a beverage or in yogurt, it’s the flavor that makes a product unique and is one of the main reasons for customers to buy a specific product.

In this sophisticated market segment, Streeck has been continually developing new products and product components for 70 years now, with a focus on customers’ needs and the ever-changing trends, thereby making an important contribution to the manufacture of high-quality consumer goods.

Professionalization through automation

As a long-standing business with 70 years of manufacturing experience, Streeck still remembers the time when many production processes were carried out by hand. “Even into the 2000s, the blending processes were still being carried out manually; after all, our products often involve the smallest quantities of specific raw materials, which have to be measured down to the gram,” explains Alexander Streeck, owner and managing director of Lothar Streeck GmbH & Co. KG. “However, due to the company’s steady growth, this method was becoming unmanageable, leading us to seriously look for a suitable partner for automating our production processes.” The precision and speed of dosing the raw materials were the main features that convinced the Streeck company to go with the three different dosing systems from Fricke. The company has been using the Fricke DFL for mixing samples since 2003. The machine is primarily used for processing small or medium quantities of raw materials; its compact, modular structure makes it easy to use, even in small production areas.

Due to an increase in order volumes, Lothar Streeck added Fricke’s Duplex dosing system in 2011. The special advantage of this system: “Through two scales operating simultaneously, the Duplex is able to handle fully automated dosing processes ranging from small units (up to 50 liters) to larger batches with up to 600 liters,” explains Bernd Fricke, managing director of Fricke Abfülltechnik GmbH & Co. KG.

Fricke also supplied the Streeck company with the right solution – the Fricke Dosing Cluster – for handling large components in its new production process. “The Dosing Cluster can be used for both manual and automated dosing, and for filling both stationary and mobile tanks. This can considerably increase the production quantity and save time,” says Bernd Fricke.

“We are very satisfied with the dosing systems from Fricke. Especially the precision, combined with the high machine availability, as well as the direct line to customer service have convinced us," says Alexander Streeck. "Therefore, we will continue to rely on Fricke for the upcoming expansion of our capacities."

About Lothar Streeck GmbH & Co. KG

Lothar Streeck GmbH & Co. KG was founded by Lothar Streeck in 1953 as a private enterprise based in Hamburg. “From our company’s successful history extending back nearly 70 years, we draw the strength and inspiration to make an important contribution to our customers’ future. Through decades of efficient operations, we have earned a name for ourselves around the world. Since its very inception, our independent family business has been characterized by a strong reputation, entrepreneurial spirit and humility, dependability, quality and consistency – all of which are implemented in products to benefit our customers. This is our legacy.”

In December 2022, the Streeck company moved from Lokstedt to Niendorf, almost exactly where owner Alexander Streeck grew up and spent his early years. The spaciously designed building was constructed just as Mr. Streeck imagined it, all in about 18 months, and was furnished in a modern industrial style. The approximately 5,000 square meter facility in the Vierenkamp industrial park consists of a huge office complex, partly encased by windows, and a nearly 2,500 square meter production hall. The business is run with a family atmosphere, and the entire team was looking forward to the building’s dedication in May, when the company also celebrated its 70th anniversary with its friends, customers and partners.
